Spiders control in Auckland
Most spiders in and around an Auckland house are harmless and genuinely useful - they eat the insects you would otherwise be dealing with. The two worth knowing about are the white-tailed spider, whose bite can cause a painful local reaction, and the katipō, which is native, protected and very rarely encountered near houses. For most people the issue is not danger but volume: webbing across eaves, windows and outdoor living areas, and the steady traffic of spiders coming indoors in autumn. An exterior treatment through the right part of the year keeps that manageable.
Signs you have spiders
- Webbing across eaves, window frames, fences and outdoor furniture
- Egg sacs in sheltered corners, sheds and garages
- A noticeable increase in spiders indoors through autumn
- Repeated webbing returning within days of being cleared
Why it matters
- White-tailed spider bites can cause a painful local reaction
- Heavy webbing marks exterior cladding and outdoor areas
- Spider numbers usually indicate a good supply of other insects
How we treat spiders
- 1
We treat the exterior of the building - eaves, window frames, door surrounds and the sheltered spots where spiders sit and web.
- 2
Treatment is timed to the season, because a spray applied at the wrong point in the year does far less.
- 3
We knock down existing webbing where we can, since a cleared surface makes it obvious whether the treatment is holding.
- 4
Because spiders follow their food, we will point out any other insect problem that is feeding the population.
What our customers say
“It was the Sunday of a long weekend, and after having set off multiple bombs and cleaning for hours we realised we needed to get someone in. I expected to leave messages and hear back on the Tuesday - but no. Marie phoned me back about 15 minutes after I left the message. Half an hour later she called back - she had found one of your workers to come and spray our house that day. On a long weekend, on a Sunday, and at no extra cost. We were in a pretty dire situation, and the kindness and efficiency made the world of difference. The roaches moved out, and we now have a clean, happy home.”
“It's really hard when you've never had any pest issues before to know where to start. I rang several different companies but Marie's lovely calming and reassuring manner helped me choose you guys. Both Mike and Stuart have been fantastic to deal with - Mike has taken quite a few phone calls from me, I called him my bed bug counsellor! You've made a horrible stressful situation seem like it was all under control.”
