Flies control in Auckland

Flies are more than a summer nuisance. They feed on waste and decaying matter and then land on food and preparation surfaces, transferring bacteria directly. For a home that is unpleasant; for a café, restaurant, bakery or food manufacturer it is a compliance issue that a verifier will pick up. Persistent indoor fly activity almost always points at a source - a bin area, a drain, a dead animal in a wall cavity, or standing organic waste nearby - and finding that source matters far more than spraying the flies you can see.

Signs you have flies

  • Persistent indoor flies, particularly around windows
  • Clusters of small flies around drains, bins or sinks
  • Fly spotting - small dark marks on light surfaces, ceilings and fittings
  • A sudden concentration of flies in one room, often meaning something has died in a cavity

Why it matters

  • Direct transfer of bacteria from waste to food and preparation surfaces
  • A recognised risk in food premises verification
  • Some species breed in drains and are very persistent without source treatment
  • Large numbers usually indicate a breeding site on or near the property

How we treat flies

  1. 1

We find the breeding source first - without that, any treatment is temporary.

  2. 2

Treatment can include residual surface application, targeted drain treatment and fly control units depending on the site.

  3. 3

For food premises we work in with your hygiene and verification requirements and can set up a documented programme.

  4. 4

We advise on the waste handling, drainage and screening changes that reduce the pressure.

What our customers say

It was the Sunday of a long weekend, and after having set off multiple bombs and cleaning for hours we realised we needed to get someone in. I expected to leave messages and hear back on the Tuesday - but no. Marie phoned me back about 15 minutes after I left the message. Half an hour later she called back - she had found one of your workers to come and spray our house that day. On a long weekend, on a Sunday, and at no extra cost. We were in a pretty dire situation, and the kindness and efficiency made the world of difference. The roaches moved out, and we now have a clean, happy home.

It's really hard when you've never had any pest issues before to know where to start. I rang several different companies but Marie's lovely calming and reassuring manner helped me choose you guys. Both Mike and Stuart have been fantastic to deal with - Mike has taken quite a few phone calls from me, I called him my bed bug counsellor! You've made a horrible stressful situation seem like it was all under control.

Flies - common questions

Why do I suddenly have a lot of flies in one room?
Very often something has died in a wall cavity, roof space or subfloor - a rodent, a bird or a possum. The flies breed on the carcass and emerge indoors. Finding and removing the source is the fix; spraying the flies alone will not stop them.
What are the tiny flies around my sink?
Usually drain flies, which breed in the organic film that builds up inside drains and overflows. They need the drain treating rather than the air spraying, which is why they survive ordinary fly spray so well.
Do I need fly control for my food business?
If you handle open food, your food control plan will expect you to manage flies and to be able to show how. We can put a documented programme in place that stands up to verification.
