Wasps control in Auckland
New Zealand has some of the highest wasp densities in the world, and German and common wasps are both well established in Auckland. Nests build through spring and summer and can be very large by late season, often tucked into roof cavities, wall voids, eaves, compost heaps or banks. Wasps become markedly more aggressive as the nest matures and as food sources dry up in autumn. Unlike bees, a wasp can sting repeatedly, and disturbing a nest can bring a large number of them out at once - which is why nest removal is genuinely not a do-it-yourself job.
Signs you have wasps
- A steady stream of wasps in and out of one point in a roof, wall or bank
- A papery grey nest visible under eaves, in a shed or in the roof space
- Sudden indoor wasp activity, often meaning a nest inside a wall cavity
- Increased aggression around outdoor eating areas in late summer and autumn
Why it matters
- Stings are painful and can cause a severe allergic reaction
- Wasps sting repeatedly, unlike bees
- Disturbing a nest can provoke a mass response
- Nests in wall cavities can grow very large before they are noticed
How we treat wasps
- 1
We locate the nest itself - treating wasps at a feeding site achieves very little.
- 2
The nest is treated directly, with the appropriate protective equipment and at a time of day that catches the most wasps in the nest.
- 3
We advise on whether the nest material needs removing, which depends on where it is.
- 4
Where wasps are entering a wall or roof cavity, we identify the access point so it can be closed once the nest is dead.
What our customers say
“It was the Sunday of a long weekend, and after having set off multiple bombs and cleaning for hours we realised we needed to get someone in. I expected to leave messages and hear back on the Tuesday - but no. Marie phoned me back about 15 minutes after I left the message. Half an hour later she called back - she had found one of your workers to come and spray our house that day. On a long weekend, on a Sunday, and at no extra cost. We were in a pretty dire situation, and the kindness and efficiency made the world of difference. The roaches moved out, and we now have a clean, happy home.”
“It's really hard when you've never had any pest issues before to know where to start. I rang several different companies but Marie's lovely calming and reassuring manner helped me choose you guys. Both Mike and Stuart have been fantastic to deal with - Mike has taken quite a few phone calls from me, I called him my bed bug counsellor! You've made a horrible stressful situation seem like it was all under control.”
