What bed bug treatment costs in New Zealand

Bed bug treatment is priced on the number of rooms affected and how far the infestation has spread beyond the bed itself. Plan on at least two visits: eggs aren't reliably killed by the first treatment, so a follow-up timed to the hatch is part of doing the job rather than an add-on. Preparation you do beforehand makes a real difference to both cost and outcome.

What drives the price

  • How many rooms are affected
  • How far it's spread beyond the bed - frames, skirting, adjacent furniture, wall fittings
  • Whether it's a house, a flat in a shared building, or accommodation with multiple units
  • How much preparation is done before we arrive

Why it's two visits, not one

Bed bug eggs are not reliably killed by the initial treatment. A batch hatches in the days and weeks afterwards, and if nothing is there to meet them you're back where you started with a smaller head start.

A follow-up timed to that hatch is the difference between a treatment that works and one that nearly works. Anyone quoting a guaranteed single-visit fix on an established infestation is either using a method that isn't what we do or is going to be back.

Preparation is worth real money

This is the one pest where what you do beforehand materially changes the result. Laundering bedding on a hot wash, clearing access around beds and skirting, and not moving infested items to other rooms all make treatment more effective - and moving a mattress through the house is the single most common way a one-room problem becomes a three-room one.

We give you specific preparation instructions when you book. Following them properly is the cheapest thing you can do about the cost.

Don't throw the mattress out yet

Most mattresses can be treated and kept. Disposing of one risks spreading bed bugs through the rest of the house on the way to the skip, and then you've paid for a mattress and still have the problem. Ask before you get rid of anything.

Frequently asked questions

How much does bed bug treatment cost in New Zealand?
It depends on how many rooms are affected and how far it's spread. Expect at least two visits - the follow-up is timed to the egg hatch and is part of the job, not an extra. We quote firm before starting, and the quote is free.
Why do I need a second treatment?
Eggs are protected and aren't reliably killed by the first application. They hatch over the following weeks, so a second visit timed to that hatch is what actually finishes the job. A single treatment on an established infestation usually isn't enough.
Do I need to throw out my mattress?
Usually not. Most mattresses can be treated and kept, and disposing of one risks spreading bed bugs through the house on the way out. Ask us before you get rid of anything.
