Identification first

Treating the wrong thing is the most expensive mistake in pest control. Three different insects attack building timber and they don't all need the same treatment. A large native cockroach that wandered in is not a German cockroach infestation. Getting it identified changes what you should spend.

Finding the entry point

For rodents especially, the entry point matters more than the bait. Clearing a population without closing the gap means paying again in six months. An inspection tells you where the access is, even where sealing it isn't work we carry out.

You get it in writing

What was found, what caused it, and what it would take to deal with. That's useful on its own - for a landlord and tenant disagreeing about responsibility, for a body corporate, or for anyone deciding whether to buy.

What to do in the meantime

Note where and when you're seeing activity - time of day genuinely helps identification
Photograph anything you find: droppings, damage, the insect itself if you can
Don't clean the evidence away before we look at it
Make sure we can get to the roof space and subfloor if that's where the noise is

Do you charge for an inspection?

A quote is free. A full documented inspection - where you want a written report on cause and findings rather than a price for a job - is a piece of work in itself, and we'll tell you the cost before doing it.

Can you tell me what's in my roof without going up?

Often we can narrow it down from a good description. Weight and rhythm of the noise, droppings, and the time of night separate rats, mice and possums fairly reliably. Confirming it properly means looking.

Can you inspect a house I'm thinking of buying?

We can inspect for pest activity and timber damage, which is a narrower thing than a builder's report. If you want a full pre-purchase report you'll want a building inspector as well - we'd rather say that than sell you a partial answer.
