How to choose a pest control company in Auckland

Everyone advertising pest control in Auckland says they're the best, which makes the claim useless. Here's what's actually worth checking - including things we'd want you to ask us.

The short answer

Ask one question and it'll tell you most of what you need: does the technician actually attending hold a current Approved Handler's Certificate for Urban Pest Management? Not "does the company employ someone who does" - the person turning up at your house. Plenty of operators can't answer that cleanly. Every one of ours can, and we're members of both NPMA and PMANZ on top of it.

Frequently asked questions

What qualification should a pest control technician have in New Zealand?
An Approved Handler's Certificate for Urban Pest Management, issued in accordance with ERMA New Zealand. It's the qualification covering safe handling and application of the substances used in urban pest control. Ask whether the person attending holds a current one - not just whether the company employs someone who does.
What are NPMA and PMANZ?
The National Pest Management Association and the Pest Management Association of New Zealand. Membership isn't a legal requirement, so it's a reasonable signal that a company takes industry standards seriously. We're members of both.
Should I get more than one quote?
Yes, and we'd say that regardless. Quotes are free and you're comparing more than price - how well someone identified the problem over the phone tells you a lot about how the job will go.
